Spanish

The Spanish program introduces students to Spanish language and culture. Students will be exposed to the differences and similarities between the American and Hispanic/Latino cultures. They will develop an awareness of the similarities and differences between the two languages as well. Students who are bilingual or have bilingual family members will be encouraged to share their experiences and knowledge.

Students will practice each of the four modes of communication: writing, reading, speaking, and listening, with the skill level dependent upon grade level.

Topics of study include: feelings, days, months, weather, seasons, numbers, animals, sports, food, body parts, school subjects and materials. Students in the upper grades will learn conjugations and sentence formation. Students in upper grades will also complete projects about Famous Hispanics and Spanish-Speaking Countries.
