Technology
The Technology Education program utilizes the Common Core standards, National Educational Technology Standards (NETS), and the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. The Scope & Sequence is customized for use with PC applications, iPad applications and collaborative web applications. The guidelines provide for planning technology-based activities in which the students achieve success in learning, communication, develop critical thinking skills and life skills. The Technology Education standards are divided into three areas and applied in each of the three grade level groups: Pre-K-2, 3-5, and 6-8. Technology skills and lesson integration provide the basis for the curriculum-driven, technology-based learning used in the program. The goal is to set a standard of excellence and best practices in learning, teaching and, leading with technology in education.
Microsoft and Apple Productivity tools along with curriculum based and web applications are used to support the technology curriculum.
Internet safety is stressed at all grade levels and a contractual “Acceptable Use” policy is in place. Internet filtering services are provided for all digital devices.

Demonstrate proficiency in the use of digital technology and applications as well as an understanding of concepts underlying hardware, software, and connectivity.
Demonstrate responsible use of technology and an understanding of ethics and safety issues in using electronic media.
Demonstrate ability to use technology for research, problem solving, and communication. Students locate, evaluate, collect and process information from a variety of electronic sources. Students use telecommunications and other media to interact or collaborate with peers, experts, and other audiences.
