Faculty Spotlight: Ms. Denise Clifford

If you have any connection to St. Theresa of Avila School, you likely know Denise Clifford. Ms. Clifford has worked at STA for over 30 years and has made a lasting imprint on countless students. Her time with us started in 1967, when she first attended the school as a seventh grader. Students love hearing her stories about how the school has changed over the years. When she attended seventh and eighth grade, there were three classes per grade with fifty students in each class and the school was staffed almost entirely by the Sisters of St. Joseph!

Ms. Clifford returned to STA in 1985 when Sister Virginia Kelleher hired her as a fifth grade teacher. Over the years, she moved to 7th grade, back to 5th, and eventually to 4th grade.  She has taught many subjects, including English, science, and social studies. Ms. Clifford has fond memories of every class she taught at STA. She loves working with the children and telling them stories about all of the time she has spent at our school. Even after “retiring”, Ms. Clifford is still working part-time, primarily in the K0 and K1 classrooms. She loves spending time with the younger children as much as she enjoyed her many years with middle schoolers. Ms. Clifford’s love for teaching and for her students is clear to everyone who has worked with her and we continue to be blessed to have her as part of the St Theresa of Avila School faculty.

If you had Ms. Clifford and want to share a fond memory, drop us a note, we’d love to hear from you at newsletter@staboston.org.
